The existing house has been converted from a former forge into a modern house with new garden extension and re-planned internal layout. This project is a collaboration with historic construction and restoration specialists, Character Builders, who have had ongoing input into the project to develop the construction method and cost plan throughout.
The project seeks to connect the house with the large south facing garden to the rear with a new sustainable timber frame sunroom extension. The sun room will provide ample light, high levels of insulation and a cross-ventilation. The extension is constructed from a Douglas Fir timber frame with a large operable skylight running across the span of the space.
